Enactus Global

Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to enable progress. A globally integrated non-profit organisation of 72,000 students across 1,730 campuses in 36 countries, Enactus constructs diverse development projects aimed at improving the livelihood of people by blending their ingenuity and talents. Enactus positively impacts the lives of approximately 1.3 million people each year.

Enactus SXC

Enactus planted its roots in St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (Autonomous) in the year 2015. We are a synergetic part of this devout student fraternity that capitalized on social entrepreneurship as instrumental in invigorating the potential prowess across the forsaken segments of our society. Since its inception, it has been successful in developing two fully functioning entrepreneurial ventures, Project Shuddhi and Project Kalakriti, branded as Talking Pots. Through its projects, it has been triumphant in impacting the lives of thousands of people and shaping a better, more sustainable world. We, at Enactus, believe in transforming innovation into action and action into progress. Inclusive growth is our objective and we believe in elevating the society to a level that witnesses prosperity, equality, gaiety, and justice.

Project Shuddhi

The average monthly medical expenditure of the families in Bengal’s arsenic belt exceeds Rs. 1400, majorly spent in the treatment of water-borne diseases. Arsenic contamination affects 1.04 crore people in West Bengal alone since the groundwater here contains above 0.09 mg/l of arsenic, which is above the permissible limit. In a bid to lighten this issue of hazardously impure water, Project Shuddhi, founded in 2018, offers a unique gravitational filter, which administers a low-cost filtration technique, thereby making each litre of purified water available at a nominal cost of Re. 0.085.

Project Kalakriti

With an objective of replacing the prodigal bouquet gifting culture with ethereal painted pots, Project Kalakriti, branded as “Talking Pots”, believes in venerating efforts, regardless of their magnitude. We often find ostentatious bouquets doing the rounds when occasions are knocking at the door. But what good are these bouquets that die with the dying light of day? Instead, be the round-peg-square-hole and gift your loved ones a talking pot – a promising specimen of positivity and growth. Under the project, our beneficiaries paint varied customizable designs on earthen pots, with the help of organic colours, thereby offering a present that grows with time.

Project Pattrang

Project Pattrang, initiated in February, 2020 is an attempt to rejuvenate the 2000 year old folk art form, Pattachitra, that draws from contemporary, mythological and historical themes to create stories in paint for recital. By mobilising skilled Chitrakars, we wish to uplift their livelihood through the development of an optimized supply chain and by providing them access to organised markets. By bridging the demand and supply gap, we help our beneficiaries to carve out an independent living for themselves.

With an objective to enhance sensitivity in today’s youth together with harnessing their corporate potential, Outreach is an annual interactive session organized by Enactus St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (Autonomous). Established personalities from across various fields, address students on socially relevant issues, thereby casting a profound impression on their minds through a spectrum of perspectives.

Through our social initiative Daksh, we aim to fuel every house with the dictum “Educate to Empower”. With a successful collection of over 2,200 books in 2019, from all across Kolkata, we moved a step further in achieving the objective of imparting education to the indigent, thereby bringing smiles to the faces of underprivileged children.
